Introduction

North East Scotland College is part of the JANET Roaming service. This allows NESCol Users (staff and student) to use eduroam at many educational institutions around the world.

In addition visiting staff or Students can access the internet with their home accounts and password.

Set up Instructions for NESCol Users
  1. Go to Wi-Fi in settings
  2. Select “Eduroam”
  3. For “EAP Method”, choose “PEAP”
  4. For “Phase 2 authentication”, choose “MSCHAPv2”
  5. For CA Certificate, choose “Do not validate” or “unspecified”
  6. Enter your Identity which is your StudentNumber@nescol.ac.uk
  7. Leave “Anonymous Identity” empty
  8. Enter your password. This is the same as your computer account.
  9. Tap on Connect
  1. Go to Wi-Fi in settings
  2. Select “Eduroam”
  3. Enter your Username which is your StudentNumber@nescol.ac.uk
  4. For “Phase 2 authentication”, choose “MSCHAPv2”
  5. Enter your password. This is the same as your computer account.
  6. Select “Join” at the top right.
  7. If a certificate page appears, select “Trust” at the top right of the screen.
Staff or Student visiting other eduroam sites

You may need check at the visited site what eduroam facilities are available there. This should be available on their web pages.

You should follow any local instructions issued regarding security, access restrictions and acceptable use policies and the Janet Acceptable Use Policy.
